Doree Bonner International recently completed an office relocation for creative agency Story, based in Edinburgh. As part of the brief, the client asked us to rehome as much of their unwanted furniture as possible, in line with their sustainability values.
Working closely with local partners, we successfully arranged for 95% of the office contents to be donated to Glasgow the Caring City, a charity working to empower marginalised communities across Glasgow and beyond. The remaining items were fully recycled at our Edinburgh facility, with zero waste sent to landfill.
The charity impact
Glasgow the Caring City is a non-profit organisation supporting over 8,500 individuals annually. It provides direct aid, development programmes and global health initiatives to promote equality and wellbeing.
Ross Galbraith from the charity commented:
“A recent act of generosity from Doree Bonner has laid the foundation – quite literally – for a new era of empowerment within Glasgow’s underrepresented communities.
A significant donation of high-quality office furniture has been instrumental in equipping our newly established training and enterprise skills incubator for women, girls, and other marginalised groups.
The immediate impact is tangible: a previously empty space has been transformed into a welcoming, fully equipped hub. Desks now support learning and collaboration, chairs offer comfort and belonging, and storage creates an organised environment.
But beyond furniture, this donation enables long-term social change – opening doors to skill-building, entrepreneurship, and employment. The ripple effect of this initiative will generate opportunities, stimulate local economic activity, and may even foster future partnerships with socially responsible businesses like Doree Bonner.
This is corporate social responsibility at its most powerful.”
Diane Harris, Office Manager at Story, added:
“As an ISO14001 accredited business, we were determined that our office move created as little waste as possible, and Doree Bonner were the perfect partners to help us in that. They couldn’t have been more helpful and efficient at every stage, ensuring our move was not only seamless but also environmentally responsible.”
Ethical removals in action
Sustainable removal practices are a core part of how we operate. Where possible, we aim to match reusable furniture with local charities, extending the life and value of each item. Any pieces that cannot be donated are responsibly dismantled and recycled, with strict zero-landfill standards across all our locations.
